Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks does not anticipate Taylor Walker will spend much time on the wing against Sydney, but said there was still a chance the big forward could ruck.
Nicks handed a club debut to tall forward Billy Frampton in Round One and expects the former Port Adelaide man to step up in the ruck relief duties.
But should Frampton impress up forward, Nicks said he had no problem putting Tex back into the hit-out contest.
“Tex probably isn’t going to spend a lot of time on the wing,” Nicks said.
“Billy is doing some fantastic work in and around the ruck, so our priority would be for him to go into the ruck and help out.
“But if the game plays out a certain way and Billy is going well ahead of the footy, maybe we will look at Tex.
“We were really happy with what we saw of his ruck work, especially the stuff he was doing in the forward line.”
Ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Swans, Nicks also confirmed that Brodie Smith would line-up in the midfield following a strong pre-season.
“Brodie will play on-ball, we aren’t hiding from that,” Nicks said.
“We named him at half-back, but the best part about Brodie Smith is that he can play both.
“At any time if it’s not working for us across the backline and we need some punch... he’s been in some pretty good form so we might have a look.”
Adelaide is scheduled to face the Swans at 4.35pm ACDT behind closed doors.
The game will be broadcast live on Channel 7, Fox Sports and Kayo.
