Crows defender Luke Brown says he never considered leaving the Club, despite the lure of free agency.

The 27-year-old addressed the media at West Lakes on Tuesday after signing a three-year contract extension.

“I’ve always wanted to be a one club player,” Brown said. 

“I’ve been here for nine years now, I'm from Adelaide, all my family and friends are here.

“The Club has been really good to me and I'm loving the direction we’re going in, a lot of fresh faces. 

“I never considered it (leaving).”

The 150-gamer has built his career playing on the opposition's best small forwards, including Geelong great Gary Abblett Jr and Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray.

But it’s a clash with a former teammate that has the newlywed most eager for 2020.

“I don’t mind it… I thrive on that challenge and thrive on doing that for my teammates,” Brown said.

“Blokes like Gary Ablett, Robbie Gray I’ve played on a lot in the past and hopefully Eddie (Betts) this year.

“It’s good fun to set yourself a challenge.”

Despite his new contract, Brown was adamant he would not take his place in the team for granted.

“There’s a lot of young guys pushing for selection down there - Fischer McAsey, Will Hamill, Lachlan Sholl they’ve been training really well,” Brown said.

“It’s putting a lot of pressure on us older blokes which is handy but also freshens up the place, there’s some good energy about it.

“We still have a good group of core older players, but they’ll be influenced by some young guys who will come in and inject some energy.”
