Crows development player Gene Robinson is the SANFL’s Round 11 Star Search nominee.
Robinson, recruited for Adelaide’s SANFL side after kicking 100 goals in consecutive seasons for River Murray Football League club Mypolonga, had 16 possessions and kicked two important last quarter goals for the Crows in their win over North Adelaide on Sunday.
The 21-year-old small forward has kicked 14 goals in eight games for the Crows, including five against the Eagles earlier this month. Robinson has also kicked 18 goals in his four games for his country club.
Crows SANFL coach Heath Younie said the award was great recognition for the Club’s development list program.
“Gene has worked hard to improve in our system and play his role for the team,” he said.
“With all the development players, you can see the improvement every week as they adapt to the competition and to being part of our team.”
Adelaide’s ‘top-up’ system suits Robinson, a painter by trade.
“With the opportunity I could play league football and footy at Mypolonga too, so I could not pass that up,” he said.
“The Crows understand my work comes first and I have a life outside football.”
