Bernie Vince proved his recovery from injury with a dominant performance for Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday.

Vince, who had strained a hamstring only 16 days earlier, led the Eagles to a 23-point win over Glenelg with a 30-possession game. His first half was outstanding, featuring good skills, effective clearance work and two goals.

Jack Gunston pushed aside the disappointment of being dropped by the Crows to kick 5.3 for Central District in its win over North Adelaide. He had 21 possessions and six marks and worked hard when the ball was in his area. Brad Symes also starred for the Bulldogs, gathering 29 possessions in another consistent performance. Tony Armstrong returned to North’s league side and was named among the Roosters’ best. He had 21 possessions off half back, ran hard and used the ball well.

Brad Moran, who has not played for the Crows since injuring a knee in round 13 of the 2009 season, had another solid game for West Adelaide as a ruckman/forward. He had 10 possessions and 24 hit outs in a side that was well beaten by Norwood. Chris Schmidt (21 possessions) played in defence and the midfield.

Ivan Maric spent limited time in ruck and on the ground for Port Adelaide Magpies in their 30-point win over South Adelaide. He only had six possessions but had 16 hit-outs. Andy Otten played at half-back for South and had 14 possessions.
Daniel Talia took another step forward in his return from injury, playing a full game for South Adelaide’s reserves. He had 23 possessions in the midfield and then across half back.

Also in the reserves were Lachlan Roach (17 possessions), Sam Martyn (18) and Jake von Bertouch won his defensive position despite playing in a losing side. Jarryd Lyons returned from a minor hamstring strain and kicked two goals from 19 possessions for Glenelg while Sam Shaw (18 possessions) also played well.
Richard Tambling had a run with a Sturt side in a game against the SA under18 side at Unley on Saturday.
