The son of a Southern Football League Hall of Famer will make his SANFL debut with the Crows on Friday night against West Adelaide.
Strong-marking tall Nick Mott has been named at centre-half forward for Adelaide’s clash with the Bloods at Richmond Oval.
Mott’s father Jerry played 297 games in the SFL in a career spanning more than 20 years, winning three premierships, three club best and fairests and two association medals. He was named centre-half forward in the SFL’s 125-year Team of the Century and was inducted into the League’s Hall of Fame in 2013.
Nick, 22, has kicked 112 goals in his past four years with Noarlunga, and booted a bag of five majors to kick off Season 2015 in the Shoes’ 24-point win over Port Noarlunga last week.
Former Fremantle left-footer Justin Bollenhagen is also set to make his maiden appearance with the State League Crows.
Bollenhagen was drafted by the Dockers in 2009 and played four games across two seasons in the AFL. He will play his first SANFL match since 2012, when he notched six senior games with South Adelaide.
Brock Castree, the nephew of Central District great Rick Macgowan, and former Port Magpies left-footer Luke Carey could also play their first games as Crows. Both players have been named on an extended interchange with a 21-man team to be finalised on game day.
Mitch Grigg returns to Adelaide’s SANFL side after he was the substitute in last week’s 27-point win over Collingwood.
Grigg heads a strong midfield unit comprising AFL-listed players Jarryd Lyons, Matt Crouch and Brodie Martin, who was the travelling emergency for the senior side last weekend.
Crouch, Lyons and Grigg are the emergencies for Saturday’s clash with Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.
Harrison Wigg, Jake Lever, Reilly O’Brien, Anthony Wilson, Jack Osborn and Keenan Ramsey are the remaining AFL-listed Crows scheduled to line up in Friday night’s clash with the Bloods.
Injured duo James Podsiadly (back) and Harry Dear (shoulder) were unavailable for selection, while veteran Scott Thompson and rookie upgrade Jake Kelly are the other absentees from last week’s side.
Friday night’s clash will be the first of four consecutive games under lights for the State League Crows ahead of the SANFL ‘Showdown’ in Round Seven.
Adelaide will be searching for its first win of the SANFL season after falling by three points in the team’s season-opener last week.
The game kicks off at 7.10pm on Friday night at Richmond Oval with free entry to all Crows ticketed members. Radio station RPH will broadcast the game live, with coverage also available via the SANFL smartphone app.
Glenelg hosts Central District at the Bay in the round’s other Friday night fixture. Port Magpies and North Adelaide battle at Alberton Oval on Saturday.
Round Three concludes with reigning premiers Norwood heading to Woodville Oval to confront the Eagles, and South Adelaide hosting Sturt at Hickinbotham Oval on Sunday afternoon.
