The Crows are right behind South Australian baseball team the Adelaide Bite as they prepare to host the Australian Baseball League Championship series three-game decider at Norwood Oval this weekend.
The Bite finished minor premiers and will play competition pacesetter Perth Heat who have won the Claxton Shield five of the past seven seasons including last year.
Adelaide Bite American imports Morgan Coombes and Tyler Brunnemann and local boy Josh Tols joined Crows Richard Douglas, Charlie Cameron and Sam Jacobs to share some baseball tips on the eve of the first ABL grand final series to be held in Adelaide in 25 years.
Jacobs and Douglas looked very much at home swinging the baseball bat on Max Basheer reserve, while Cameron showed off his baseball skills as a junior with some deft work with the mitt.
Bite Pitchers Coombes and Brunnemann were then shown how to hold the Sherrin and which "sticks" to kick it through. The Bite trio were given a tour of the football facility including a walk onto AAMI Stadium.
Crows midfielder Richard Douglas said it was awesome fun having a hit with the Bite pitchers and encouraged all of SA to get behind the Bite in the grand final this weekend.
"Let's all make sure we get along to Norwood Oval this weekend and support our SA team in the Championship series," Douglas said.
"They’ve had a brilliant year and the backing of a big crowd will help them get over the line."
The last time the Bite won the Claxton Shield was back in 1980.
Game One is this Friday night 6 February from 7pm at Norwood Oval.
Game Two is Saturday night 7 February from 7pm at Norwood Oval.
Game Three (if required) is Sunday night 8 February from 7pm at Norwood Oval.
