Collingwood’s stunning win over Geelong has ended the race for the eight finals positions.
Geelong’s loss on Friday night left it six premiership points behind eighth-placed Adelaide and two wins behind Richmond, Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne.
Positions within the eight are still to be finalised, however, with “home” finals and double chances to be secured in the last two minor rounds.
This year’s finals will feature three teams who did not play in the 2014 deciders. West Coast, the Western Bulldogs and Adelaide have replaced Geelong, Port and Essendon.
It is the first time Geelong has missed the finals since 2006.
