The autograph of every player to have worn the Crows guernsey is wanted by Adelaide’s Past Player and Officials committee.
The committee plans to auction 52 numbered guernseys – signed by each player who has worn the number – to help raise money for the past players welfare fund. Another set of guernseys will be presented to the Club.
Past player and current Board director Rod Jameson has set the ambitious target. Currently, 202 players have represented the Adelaide Football Club in premiership matches and every number from one to 52 has been worn by at least one Crows player.
To assist with the signing process, all past players are encouraged to attend the round 12 game between Adelaide and Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval on June 18.
“Embracing and recognising all the players that have represented our Club is a key part of any Club’s history and following on from our inaugural Hall of Fame we are keen to honour and acknowledge every player who has worn the Club’s jumper,” said Jameson, who played 153 games for the Crows.
“We also want to use this opportunity to underpin the welfare program we have planned to help look after our players that might fall on hard times or need support after they have left our Club.”
The first guernsey to be auctioned will be the No 32, which was worn in Adelaide’s first season by former SA and West Torrens captain Bruce Lindsay, then Mark Ricciuto and now Patrick Dangerfield.
Each guernsey will be available online for a three-week period only. The successful bidder will be acknowledged at 4pm AEST at the end of the third week.
