Interim Senior Coach Scott Camporeale will remain at West Lakes for at least the next two years.

Camporeale decided not to pursue the vacant Senior Coach position and instead will become the Senior Assistant holding key responsibility for midfield.

The 40-year-old impressed the football community when he became Interim Senior Coach following the tragic passing of Phil Walsh in early July.

He guided the Crows to their first finals appearance since 2012 and finished with a 7-4 win-loss record, earning widespread praise for his leadership and poise.

Camporeale said while he had thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the timing was not right to take on the role permanently.

“Coaching is more demanding than many think and it is a lifestyle rather than a job,” he said.

“I want to make sure I can devote enough time to my wife and young children so in the end it was an easy decision.

“Recent months gave me valuable insight into my own ability and the role of Senior Coach itself, and it is something I may certainly consider down the track.”

Camporeale also likes the thought of forging an even closer bond with the Adelaide’s onballers, who he had mentored prior to his interim term.

“I love working with our talented and hard-working midfielders and actually missed the day-to-day focus of working with those boys,” he said.

Crows Chief Executive Andrew Fagan said Camporeale would be an asset to any coaching department.

“There is no doubt Scott is now a better coach for having guided the Club through its toughest time,” Fagan said.

“He is an outstanding strategist, excellent communicator and always has what is best for the Club at the forefront of his thinking.

“He could not have done any more and we are thrilled that he will be an integral part of our coaching team in the years ahead.”

Adelaide’s search for a Senior Coach is ongoing with an announcement expected early next month.
