Coach Brenton Sanderson says the Crows could look to bolster their ruck stocks in the upcoming Rookie Draft.

The AFL Pre-Season and Rookie Drafts, which have been brought forward on previous years, will be held on Wednesday, November 27.

Adelaide doesn’t have a pick in the Pre-Season Draft, but will have up to four rookie selections. Of the Club’s 2013 rookies, only promising tall Jack Osborn (Category B rookie) remains on the list, while talented defenders Rory Laird and Kyle Hartigan have been promoted to the senior list. Osborn, pinch-hitting ruckmen/forwards Josh Jenkins and Shaun McKernan, and former Tiger Angus Graham are the Club's current ruck options.

Adelaide snapped up an inside midfielder in Matt Crouch and hard-running, defensive half-forward Riley Knight with its two picks in Thursday night’s AFL National Draft.

Former Brisbane Lion Jesse O’Brien, who has been training with the Crows, remains in contention for a rookie spot. Sanderson said the Club would re-assess its needs, which include a developing ruckman, ahead of next week’s meet.

“We did speak about that (our ruck stocks) straight after the draft,” Sanderson told FIVEaa.

“If you look at our squad now, that’s one area we’ll have to target through the rookie draft or next year’s draft. We’ll need to start bringing in some ruck stocks to develop over the next few years.

“(We didn’t draft one because) it depends who is available. Sam Jacobs came off the rookie list, and lot of other good ruckmen have come off rookie lists.

“We’ll see the players that are left and try to identify who we target in the rookie draft in a week’s time. I’ve got a list of players who I’ve already put the highlighter through.

“We’ll try to interview them over the next few days, so we don’t miss anyone out.”
