See what Gold Coast Suns coach Rodney Eade had to say following his side’s 75-point loss to the Crows.
On his side’s willingness to battle on despite the loss of key players…
“Overall I was really pleased with the effort, I thought we really dug in.
“We lost the last quarter by a point and missed two easy shots and that was with two players down (following injuries to Ah Chee and MacPherson).
“We’ve got four of our best six defenders out and they’ve kicked 19 or 20 (goals), but I thought we did really well to be honest.”
On matching up on Adelaide’s dynamic forward line...
“It’s a really potent forward line and you need to be able to win in the midfield to help that.
“I thought we battled manfully. I thought Sam Day did well on Walker even though he kicked five.
“Sam (Day) has gone to the task really well, out of those five (goals kicked by Walker) probably two weren’t on him and even that last one was not his fault.
“Jenkins can really light up against lesser lights and play well and for Keegan (Brooksby) to do what he did, he’s playing his third game in defence.”
On the midfield duel…
“A lot of the centre square I think we got our hands to it first but fumbled, maybe it’s just because most of our key midfielders are out.
“I think the centre bounces in the second quarter was really poor, some players didn’t play the role that we’d asked of them.
“We’ve been losing the midfield because of the players we’ve had in there, so it makes it hard for the forwards and really difficult for the backs.”
On the Suns’ costly turnovers…
“There’s a lot of basic errors we made and we gave them a lot of ball from our mistakes but I thought it wasn’t through a lack of effort, the effort was there.
“They’re a very good side that works well on the turnover and our turnovers were really probably not even due to pressure at times.”
