The Adelaide Football Club concluded its two-day 2013 Australia Post Community Camp in the upper South East/Murray Mallee region on Tuesday after visiting a plethora of schools, hospitals, aged care facilities and community groups.
Adelaide’s players and officials visited over 20 primary and secondary schools throughout the South East during their visits, reaching out to over 1000 country students. Players also attended six hospitals and aged care facilities throughout the region.
On Monday afternoon, 30 Glenelg Football Club academy squad members enjoyed a rare opportunity as Adelaide Senior Coach Brenton Sanderson led them in an intimate training session.
While Sanderson was holding the development session, the entire Crows playing list was involved in a footy skills clinic at Naracoorte Football Club Oval, where over 200 young fans enjoyed the chance to meet their favourite players, learn new football skills and get photos and autographs.
Around 200 members of the local Naracoorte community attended a dinner at the Naracoorte Town Hall on the Monday night where over $2,000 was raised for junior football in the KNTFL.
The dinner was an entertaining evening featuring interviews with Chairman Rob Chapman, Brenton Sanderson, Nathan van Berlo, Sam Jacobs, Rory Sloane and Patrick Dangerfield.
In his address, Adelaide Chairman Rob Chapman outlined the importance of the community camp visits and acknowledged the fantastic support that the various communities throughout the South East provide to the Adelaide Football Club.
Following the two-day visit to the South East, Nathan van Berlo said the players really enjoyed giving something back to the community.
“These visits are something the group really enjoys doing. It’s a great chance for us to meet our devoted regional supporters and giving something back.”
