The Crows will head to Clare and the Mid North on February 15 and 16 for the Club’s 2016 Australia Post AFL Community Camp.
The Australia Post AFL Community Camp is part of a national program, which provides AFL Clubs with an opportunity to visit regional and remote communities across Australia, allowing locals to get close to their AFL heroes.
This year the Crows Community Camp will visit more than 30 schools across the Mid North, host a football clinic as well as a fundraising dinner during an action packed two days.
A highlight of the camp will be the super coaching clinic from 4:30pm-5.30pm at Clare Oval, where children will have the opportunity to meet the team, learn basic AFL skills and collect autographs.
After the clinic the Crows will host a dinner to raise funds for the local football league.
The Community Camp will give current Crow Riley Knight a chance to visit his hometown of Clare.
“I try and get back home as much as I can, so to have the chance to go there with our Community Camp is a real thrill,” Knight said.
“The Mid North is a proud sporting community so I have no doubt they will welcome us with open arms.
“The Community Camp is a great chance for us players to get away from the day-to-day grind of the pre-season and support grassroots football.”
General Manager of Football Administration Phil Harper said the Crows Community Camp was an important part of the pre-season schedule.
“Our Community Camp gives us an opportunity to give back to our regional supporters, who make up nearly 20 per cent of our membership and support us so passionately,” Harper said.
“Regional South Australia has been an important recruiting ground for us in the past with some of our greatest players coming from the country.
“This year we will be visiting 41 schools across the two days which will give kids a great chance to interact with our players, coaches and staff”
This is the 13th year that the Australia Post AFL Community Camp initiative has reached far and wide across Australia.
The Crows have previously been to Murray Bridge, Fleurieu Peninsula, Barossa Valley, Yorke Peninsula, Port Augusta, Mt Gambier, Riverland, Naracoorte and Port Lincoln last year.
