Chaos has struck the AFL Fantasy universe as injuries and suspensions have left gaping holes in teams across the country.
Adelaide’s fan-selected Fantasy team is no different, with several crucial players unavailable for this week’s penultimate clash with Geelong.
The Fantasy Crows are in desperate need of the guidance of The 19th Man after a heart-wrenching 84-point loss to league leaders Brisbane last round.
Our risky move to bring in Tom Rockliff (165) was worth every penny. The new Fantasy Crows captain continued his incredible form to post his 11th triple-figure score from his past 12 outings, and now has six totals above 150 to be the most sought-after Fantasy player in the competition.
Teammate Pearce Hanley (147) also posted a monster score to produce his third Fantasy ton from his past four games as our general in defence.
Docker Michael Barlow (128), Swans midfielder Luke Parker (112) and Geelong skipper Joel Selwood (104) all helped hold our midfielder together.
Lions duo Stefan Martin (123) and Dayne Zorko (130) were far and away our best performing forwards.
But there is plenty of work to do to rectify our side ahead of this week’s head-to-head clash with the Cats, who downed Port Adelaide last round for a second consecutive Fantasy victory.
We held onto Steve Johnson (DNP) last week in the hope that a foot injury would only sideline the mercurial midfielder for a single match, but he is set to miss again. Collingwood’s Dayne Beams (46) copped a nasty knee injury and is now out for the rest of the season, while a thumb complaint to Michael Barlow also hurts our chances this weekend.
Adding to our woes, Pies defender Heritier Lumumba (34) has been ruled out with a leg injury, but luckily we have other options down back to cover his absence.
The return of Scott Thompson and Scott Pendlebury is also a godsend for the Fantasy Crows this week.
Beams must go, but who do we move on out of Barlow and Johnson? Both have been terrific pickups for our side this season, but we must trade one to avoid a midfield donut.
