Courtney Cramey will captain South Australia in Sunday’s Women’s State match against NSW/ACT at the Adelaide Oval after proving her fitness last weekend.
The experienced midfielder missed the All Stars game earlier last month because of a hamstring issue but returned to action in Sunday’s trial game win over a Northern Territory side.
Cramey, whose dream of playing in a national women’scompetition now appears within reach sooner than she expected, will be supported by Georgia Bevan as vice-captain.
The State contest offers the chance to impress in a big game ahead of the AFL’s imminent announcement of the clubs who will be involved in the inaugural women’s competition next year.
South Australian coach Narelle Smith said the playing group was eager to put on a strong display.
The game, a curtain-raiser for Adelaide’s AFL match with St Kilda, starts at 12.35pm.
SA was forced to make one change to last weekend’s team, losing Allison Evans to a rib injury.
The match against NSW/ACT will be telecast live on Foxtel.
