Brodie Smith is the second Crow to commit to the Club in a week, signing a new two-year deal.

Smith, 24, will wear the blue, red and gold until at least the end of 2018.

Smith’s signature follows that of fellow All Australian defender, Daniel Talia, who recently put pen to paper on a five-year contract extension with Adelaide.

The talented South Australian said it was an easy decision to sign on.

“I’m really enjoying my football at the Crows and think we have an exciting playing group, who are all working hard towards achieving team success,” he said.

“To have the chance to run out with my mates in front of 50,000 fans week-in, week-out at Adelaide Oval is an amazing experience and something that I will continue to look forward to.”

In 97 career games, the long-kicking half-back has established himself as one of the most damaging defenders in the League. He ranked No.1 in the competition for metres gained per game in 2015, and also No.1 at Adelaide for total rebound 50ms despite missing two matches through injury.

In 2014, he earned All Australian selection and represented his country in the International Rules series. Smith also finished a career-high fourth in Adelaide’s best and fairest in the same year.

Crows Senior Coach Don Pyke said he was pleased Smith had extended his stay at the Club.

“Brodie is an exciting talent and a player with a unique skill set who continues to improve his game,” Pyke said.

“He has an outstanding work ethic and is developing his leadership to drive the elite standards at our Club.”

Smith was recruited with pick No.14 in the 2010 National Draft and made his AFL debut in Round One of his first (2011) season. He won Adelaide’s emerging talent award in 2012.
