Crows defenders Jake Lever and Kyle Cheney visited the Australian Navy's newest and largest ship — HMAS Adelaide — when it docked in its namesake city for the first time on Wednesday.
Lever and Cheney were treated to a tour of the ship’s facilities and met crew members, a number of whom were avid Crows fans, before the Club returns the favour at Thursday night’s clash against North Melbourne.
More than 60 crew from HMAS Adelaide will attend Adelaide Oval for the blockbuster game including the Commanding Officer and Commander Surface Forces of the ship.
In addition, fans heading along to Thursday’s game will be welcomed by the Royal Australian Navy Band, a prestigious ceremonial unit of the Australian Defence Force, which will play at 7pm ahead of the first bounce.
The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Band is one of Australia’s premier military ensembles and has performed for thousands of audiences within Australia and around the world.
On parade during Thursday’s pre-match entertainment will be elements of RAN Band Sydney and RAN Band South Australia, under the direction of Lieutenant Matthew Klohs and Drum Major Chief Petty Officer Kara Williams.
HMAS Adelaide's visit to Adelaide will also include a traditional Freedom of Entry parade in the city on Friday and an open day on Sunday.
