Former GWS Giant Curtly Hampton features in our latest ‘Know Your Crow’ video.
Hampton was one of Greater Western Sydney’s inaugural players, but he’s always been an avid Crows fan.
The Alice Springs native named Crows icons Andrew McLeod and Tony Modra as his childhood footy heroes. In fact, Hampton is such a fan of McLeod that the Crows champ’s biography, Black Crow, remains the only book that he has ever read!
Read a sample of Curtly’s answers below and see all his responses by watching the full video at the top of the page.
Which AFL team did you support growing up?
I actually supported the Crows for Tony Modra and Andrew McLeod, my favourite players. Then when Modra moved to Fremantle, I started going for Fremantle as well and I pretty much still went for the Crows purely because of Andrew McLeod.
What was the last book you read?
The last book and the first book that I ever read was Andrew McLeod’s book, Black Crow. It was the first book that I ever read and I haven’t read one since. I’m not really a big reader, but I got it for Christmas a few years ago and had to read it.
What’s your best sport outside of football?
I played a bit of baseball and basketball growing up, and also boxing. I love my boxing. So it’d be one of them.
Can you play any musical instruments?
I played the drums back in high school, but didn’t really try to follow that for a career or anything. But I definitely love my music.
Star Wars or James Bond?
I’m a fan of both, but probably James Bond just purely because he’s got the cars and gets the girls.
