Rory Sloane will miss Friday night's clash with West Coast after accepting a one-match ban from the Match Review Panel.
Sloane was initially handed a two-game ban for engaging in rough conduct, but the penalty was reduced to one match with an early guilty plea.
The 2013 Crows Club Champion made contact to the face of Port Adelaide midfielder Brad Ebert in a spoiling attempt during the third quarter of Saturday night’s Showdown.
Sloane was penalised with a 50-metre penalty at the time. Ebert left the ground under the blood rule, but returned to play out the game.
Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Port Adelaide Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.
The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. Sloane has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.
The Club decided on Tuesday morning to accept the one-game suspension.
An unsuccessful challenge at the AFL Tribunal would've resulted in a two-game ban, meaning Sloane would be ineligible to play in the Club’s first final.
The influential midfielder is now ineligible to win this year's Brownlow Medal.
