Rory Sloane has taken the lead in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.
Sloane, 26, overtook former teammate and Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield at the top of the leaderboard after receiving three votes at the MCG on Sunday.
Sloane, who has polled 67 votes in 14 games, is one vote clear of Dangerfield, while Cats captain Joel Selwood is third (64).
The inspirational Adelaide midfielder collected 23 possessions (10 contested), four inside 50ms and a round-high 13 tackles on the weekend.
Another Rory, Rory Laird, earned a perfect 10 in Adelaide’s win over Melbourne.
Laird repelled countless Demon attacks, taking a team-high 10 marks to go with 25 disposals. The courageous defender has now polled 22 votes in 10 matches this season.
Dees forward Jack Watts received seven votes from Don Pyke and Paul Roos. Watts kicked three goals from 23 touches to be judged his team’s best player.
Crows forwards Taylor Walker and Charlie Cameron each attracted four votes.
Walker kicked three goals and took an equal round and game-high four contested marks. Cameron was lively with two goals and four forward 50m entries with his 17 disposals.
Sloane was the next-best vote-getter. Melbourne captain Nathan Jones, who was the leading possession winner on the ground with 33, rounded out the voting (two).
Laird and Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury were the only two players to receive maximum votes in Round 15.
West Coast onballer Luke Shuey, who polled nine votes, was the biggest mover on the overall leaderboard, climbing into fourth spot with 57 votes.
