Eddie Betts scored a perfect 10 votes from the coaches for his five-goal haul against Essendon.

Betts was involved in a total of 13 scores with his 16 possessions at Adelaide Oval on Sunday night.

Don Pyke and Bombers counterpart John Worsfold agreed that acting Crows captain Rory Sloane was the next-best player on the ground.

Sloane polled eight votes for an influential performance, which included 33 possessions, nine inside 50ms and a goal. The impressive display helped Sloane keep touch with former teammate and current leader of the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award, Patrick Dangerfield.

Dangerfield, who earned maximum votes in Geelong’s win over the Western Bulldogs, is seven votes clear of Sloane. Sloane has opened up a nine-vote buffer on third-placed Dustin Martin (Richmond).

Defender Rory Laird received six votes in Adelaide’s 82-point win over Essendon. The leading possession-getter on the ground, Laird amassed a career-best 36 disposals, seven marks and six rebound 50ms.

Sloane (88), Betts (50) and Laird (37) are the top-ranked Crows in the Coaches Award after Round 19. Forward Charlie Cameron, who kicked a career-high four goals, was the other Adelaide player to collect votes on the weekend.

Emerging Bombers star Joe Daniher, who kicked four goals from 21 possessions and 11 marks, was rewarded for his standout performance in a losing side, also earning three votes.

Betts and Dangerfield were two of only four players to attract maximum votes in Round 19. Sydney Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy and versatile Port Adelaide ruckman Jackson Trengove also received 10s.
