The AFL Fantasy season has come to an end and now is time to look back and recap our how our players fared this year.

Whilst even contribution was the story of Adelaide’s season, there was a clear Fantasy standout this year, with star midfielder Rory Sloane the only Crow to average over 100 points in 2016.

Averaging 105.9 points through 21 games played, fan-favourite Sloane ranked in the top 15 players across the AFL Fantasy competition despite missing the final minor round game to suspension.

The highlight of the season for Sloane was a purple patch of six consecutive Fantasy tons from Round 11-17, during which time he averaged over 123 points.

Sloane’s biggest score of 2016 came back in Round Eight against Geelong, when he had 28 possessions, 11 tackles and six marks for a total of 147 points.

However, Sloane’s huge Round Eight total against Geelong was only the second-best Fantasy performance by a Crow in 2016.

The biggest Fantasy haul belongs to forward Josh Jenkins, who piled on a monstrous 156 points in Round 11 against St Kilda. Jenkins was prolific against the Saints, kicking 8 goals from 24 possessions, including plucking season-high 13 marks.

It was a career-best Fantasy year for Jenkins, who averaged 80.1 points across 22 games in 2016, blowing his 2015 average of 68 right out of the water.

Despite being limited to just 17 games in 2016 due to injury, young defender Rory Laird was another Crow who enjoyed a career-best Fantasy year.

Laird had the second-highest average of any Crow this year with 97, eclipsing his previous best average of 88 which he achieved last season.

The 22-year-old managed eight Fantasy tons and his best came way back in Round Two against Port Adelaide, when he amassed 136 points in a dominant 33-possession performance.

The most popular Crow among Fantasy coaches, Laird made the cut for 21 per cent of all teams, ahead of his defensive partner Brodie Smith, who was selected in around 19 per cent of sides.

Veteran midfielder Scott Thompson had yet another strong Fantasy year to finish with the third-best average among Crows players. The 33-year-old maintained a strong average just shy of 96 points through 20 games played.

Thompson had a particularly strong start to 2016, with four consecutive Fantasy tons between Round Two and Round Five, including his season-best total of 126 in Round Five against Hawthorn.

The biggest surprise package for the Crows came in the form of 24-year-old Jarryd Lyons.

Benefiting from the abolishment of the substitute rule prior to the start of the 2016 season, Lyons had his best Fantasy year to date, averaging 89 points.

From a coach’s perspective, Lyons was an absolute cash cow, piling on $213,000 in value through 18 games played in 2016.

Like Lyons, Matt Crouch was also a big mover in 2016 and another Crow who benefited from the substitute rule change, averaging 93 points and adding $105,000 in value through his 20 AFL appearances.
