Rory Sloane has regained the lead in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.
Sloane polled four votes in Adelaide’s 80-point win over the Brisbane Lions to move ahead of West Coast utility Elliot Yeo by three votes on the overall leaderboard.
After a tough fortnight, the Crows vice-captain overcame another heavy tag to gather 31 disposals, a team-high eight clearances and five inside 50ms.
Lively forward/midfielder Charlie Cameron, who received six votes from coaches Don Pyke and Chris Fagan, was the highest vote-getter at the GABBA on Saturday night.
Cameron put on a third-quarter master class, kicking four goals from nine possessions for the term. He finished with a total of 18 touches, seven marks and three inside 50ms.
Eddie Betts and Rory Laird each attracted five votes. Laird was Adelaide’s leading possession winner with 37. He also generated seven rebound 50ms and five inside 50ms.
Betts bagged three goals, including another Goal of the Year nominee, and had four goal assists – more than any other player in Round Nine.
Young onballer Matt Crouch continued his impressive season with another four votes. Crouch won five clearances with his 32 touches and sent the ball inside attacking 50m three times.
Defenders Luke Brown and Jake Lever rounded out the voting for the Crows.
Brown, who also spent some time in the midfield, won a season-high 25 possessions to earn two votes in his 100th game.
Lever patrolled the back half with an equal-season high 20 possessions and seven marks. He had 10 intercept possessions – ranked equal-third for the round.
