Charlie Cameron believes his rugby league background is a big reason why tackling and a lightning side step are two major weapons in his game.
The Queensland-born speedster told The Crows Show he played rugby league as a junior and didn’t take up AFL until late in his teens.
Cameron said tackling and taking the game on were things he could transfer from one sport to the other.
“Tackling is a big part of my role with forward 50 pressure and up in the forward lines,” Cameron said.
“It’s a lot different with tackling from NRL to AFL but I enjoy tackling and when I get to hit blokes.”
The 22-year-old has taken his game to another level this year and his run and carry through the middle of the ground have become somewhat of a trademark.
“I’m enjoying my time up in the midfield at the moment so hopefully I can get some more minutes up there,” Cameron said.
“When I get the chance to run and carry I can but I guess it just happens.
“To take the game on is exciting so I’ve just got to keep doing it.”
