Eddie Betts is officially in the running for the 2017 AFL Goal of the Year.
Betts, who has claimed the past two Goal of the Year awards, put forward his first nomination of the new season with another amazing snap from ‘his pocket’ at Adelaide Oval.
The livewire goalkicker swopped on a loose ball at half-forward midway through the final term. Betts burst past two Bomber opponents as he collected the ball near the boundary in front of the venue’s old scoreboard.
He then curled the ball back beautifully on his right boot from a tight angle to slot his sixth goal of the match.

Betts beat out former Crow Jack Gunston and Richmond forward Jack Riewoldt to progress to the main Goal of the Year draw.
At the conclusion of the home and away season, the AFL’s All Australian Selection Committee will select the best three goals from the season as the 2017 finalists.
