Midfielder Hugh Greenwood has cast aside injury speculation and says he’s ‘raring to go’ for Saturday’s Toyota AFL Grand Final.
The 25-year-old joined his teammates for Friday’s final training run at the MCG.
“I feel great, I feel fine,” Greenwood said.
“(I’ve) ticked all the boxes this week and obviously raring to go for tomorrow.
“I’ll do the training session today and just start preparing like the rest of the group tomorrow.
“I’m feeling fantastic.”
Greenwood has become an important part of Adelaide’s midfield mix after making his senior debut in Round Nine.
The former basketballer will play just his 15th AFL game in Saturday’s decider – the least of any Crow in the side.
Greenwood said he’s still pinching himself on the eve of the biggest game of his career.
“It’s pretty surreal,” Greenwood said.
“I’m obviously trying to keep it as normal as possible getting to Melbourne with all the hype and energy that’s around
“I’m just trying to bubble it all up and hopefully utilise that tomorrow.”
Greenwood is set to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Peter Marquis.
He played 99 VFL games for Melbourne in the 1950s, including four consecutive Grand Finals and three premierships.
“It’s really special,” Greenwood said.
“He’s been on this stage four times and was fortunate enough to win it three times. As a family, we’ve got a little bit of experience!
“It’s special for the family, but not just for myself but everyone in the rooms and the footy club.
“I’m excited to get out there.”
