Adelaide will make at least one change to its AFL Women’s team ahead of Sunday’s crucial clash with Collingwood at Olympic Park Oval.
Midfielders Monique Hollick and Justine Mules and untried ruckwoman Lauren O’Shea have been included into a squad of 24 for the match against the Magpies.
Hollick, 27, returns to the squad after missing last weekend’s game in Darwin against Melbourne to marry her fiancé.
Mules has played three of the Club’s six AFLW games this season and was an emergency for last week’s clash with the Dees, while O’Shea, who also served as an emergency last round, is yet to play a game for the Club.
Rebounding defender Tayla Thorn has been omitted following last weekend’s two-point loss at TIO Stadium.
The Club’s final team for Sunday’s clash will be confirmed on afc.com.au on Friday afternoon at approximately 4pm SA time.
The second spot in the inaugural AFL Women’s Grand Final will be decided in Round Seven of the AFLW season. The undefeated Brisbane Lions have already confirmed their place and will host the decider in a fortnight’s time.
The Crows will almost certainly advance if Melbourne fails to defeat Fremantle on Saturday evening. If the Dees are successful, the Crows’ clash with Collingwood becomes a must-win match.
AFLW: Crows to crown Club Champion
Crows women’s coach Bec Goddard said her team would keep a narrow focus heading into the weekend.
“We can’t rely on other teams’ performances, we’ve got to rely on our own,” she said.
“All we can look at is winning the game this weekend.”
The Crows have lost two consecutive games by a combined margin of just five points. Collingwood, conversely, has won three matches in succession including a convincing 36-point win over Greater Western Sydney last Sunday.
“The girls were really disappointed in their game last week. We were soundly beaten in a number of areas,” Goddard said.
“They’ve all been really close games. But that’s the nature of AFLW.”
Sunday’s clash at Olympic Park Oval will be broadcast live on Channel 7 in South Australia from 1pm SA time. The match will also be telecast live nationwide on Fox Footy.
