We could barely have asked for a better start to the season and it has been great to see the players, coaches and high performance staff rewarded for their hard work. However everyone at the Club, and I am sure you too, knows there will be many more twists and turns, and ups and downs, before the season is done. Sunday afternoon looms as another great challenge with the confident and unbeaten Tigers coming to town.
The Club continues to perform strongly off-field and we appreciate the significant and long-term corporate support of a number of partners, some of which have recently extended their association including Lion Dairy and Drinks, known by many as Farmers Union, and Modern Group which encompasses Bramalco and Modern Solar. Revolution Roofing, Bartercard, Bird in Hand Wines and Boileau Business Solutions have also re-committed.
Tonight presents another important occasion for our women’s players who will be awarded custom-made premiership rings, as well as the Key to the City, at a special reception at the Adelaide Town Hall. The AFL, in conjunction with Musson Jewellers, commissioned the jewellery which is limited to only 23 pieces for the 22 premiership players plus coach Bec Goddard. It’s a beautiful ring featuring a replica of the distinctive NAB AFL Women’s ‘W’ logo in 18ct white gold, with each shoulder of the ring featuring eight white diamonds and the premiership year engraved below with an additional diamond.
We have not wasted any time plotting our AFLW premiership defence and Bec and her team are working through the list profile ahead of next month’s signing and trade period. Initially, each club will be able to sign up to 22 players, either from the 2017 primary list or others traded in from rival clubs, with the list size increasing to 30 next year.
As you know, we were also forced to change apparel sponsors in January and the fresh range of ISC clothing has now arrived. I encourage you to pop into CROWmania or go online and take a look. There is something to suit all ages, shapes and sizes! Make sure you also check out afc.com.au for the latest Club news and don’t forget our live shows on Facebook from Monday to Thursday at 5.55pm to ensure you are kept up-to-date.
I hope to see you at the footy on Sunday when the boys take on the Tigers. We anticipate this game being a sellout, with only a few hundred tickets remaining heading into the weekend. You have turned out in force at our first two homes games and if you can’t attend on Sunday please pass your ticket onto a family member or friend so we can once again pack the Adelaide Oval. We Fly As One!
Regards, Andrew
