Students from four schools in the APY Lands and Far West Coast regions have completed short term visits to experience secondary school in Adelaide.

The students were greeted by former Crows players Andrew McLeod and Eddie Hocking and SANFL development player Josh Wittwer, who lead the Club’s Ready Set Crow (RSC) program.

Having made regular trips to the APY Lands and the Far West Coast regions to meet with teachers, students and their families, the three provide familiar faces for the students.

The Ready Set Crow project encourages students to experience short term stays in Adelaide – with transitional support and guidance provided by both the Crows and Wiltja Residential teams. 

Students have the opportunity to experience life in a metropolitan high school, at Wiltja Boarding, and participate in leadership and mentoring sessions at the Adelaide Football Club.

The Ready Set Crow team has assisted 14 students through transition visits in recent weeks, teaming up with Wiltja staff to work one-on-one with students to support them on a two week trial. This is a critical step before families make informed decisions about their children returning to Adelaide to study on a full-time basis.

The Ready Set Crow team has worked with 138 students in 11 schools, 73 of which have taken part in short term visits to schools in Adelaide.

While it has been busy in Adelaide, the Ready Set Crow crew has also been out and about on liaison visits, catching up with students and families within their communities to see how they are enjoying their time in the program.
