Rory Sloane will captain the Crows in Sunday’s NAB Challenge clash with Fremantle.
Sloane, 25, assumes the responsibility in the absence of forward Taylor Walker. The influential midfielder shared the acting captaincy duties at Adelaide in 2014 following a season-ending injury to then-skipper Nathan van Berlo.
Sloane, van Berlo, and Richard Douglas are the only members of the Club’s seven-man leadership group playing this weekend. Walker and fellow senior players Scott Thompson, Sam Jacobs, Daniel Talia and Eddie Betts will sit out the match at Mount Barker in WA as part of their management.
Sloane will play his first game of the year on Sunday after missing Adelaide’s NAB Challenge opener against West Coast at Unley Oval. The Crows have made a total of five changes for the match against the Dockers.
Unfortunately, members won’t be able to scan in at the gate at Sounness Oval on Sunday unless they have registered for a ticket. The ground has reached its capacity of 5,000 in pre-sale tickets and member registrations.
The match starts at 1:40pm (WST) or 4:10pm (SA time) and will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and the AFL Live App, which is offering a free trial. SA radio station FIVEaa will also be calling the game. You can follow the game on Twitter via the Club’s official account @Adelaide_FC.
