Ruth Wallace demonstrated the x-factor she provides Adelaide’s forward line on Saturday night, kicking a game-high three goals to lead the Crows to a 35-point win over Carlton at Norwood Oval.

Wallace provided her side with an early spark, kicking Adelaide’s first two goals to put the Blues under pressure from the outside.

Her final goal in the last quarter sealed the win, with the 25-year-old crediting her performance and nous around goal to a mountain of hard work.

“I’ve worked hard with my goals and worked with the coaches pretty closely and I think we were all able to link and play so well as a team,” Wallace said.

“We are working hard together and are able to link a bit more through the midfield and the forward line and staying strong from the back.”

The win kept Adelaide's hopes of defending its AFL Women's premiership alive, with the Crows now sitting two points adrift of the top three teams on the AFLW ladder with two games to play.

Wallace said the sentiment in the rooms after the win was ‘it’s not done yet.’

“We are really happy and really proud of how we performed today but you could feel that that’s not the end,” she said.

“We still have got another two weeks to get those wins and that scoreboard pressure and see where that takes us.”

Fellow forward Eloise Jones was another to provide highlights, kicking two goals, including a brilliant snap from the pocket.

The 18-year-old was electric in the forward line alongside Wallace.

“I had ‘EJ’ beside me and she was terrific, we had a lot of fun,” Wallace said.

“Myself and EJ are going up to the next level and were able to enjoy today and we’ll continue to work hard for the next few weeks.”

Wallace certainly did enjoy it, evident in her post-goal celebrations which are becoming a trademark of her game.

“That’s one of the things we make a point of, when we score, we are going to celebrate it,” Wallace said.

“It gets us up and about, it gets the crowd up. Every goal we should celebrate, because it brings that vibe, and I hope the crowd loved it as well.

“That’s why they come and watch and that’s what Bec [Goddard] said, we want to come and put on a show for our home crowd.”
