AFLW premiership players Erin Phillips and Courtney Cramey have been ruled out of Adelaide’s clash with Melbourne at Casey Fields on Saturday.
Phillips was a late withdrawal from the Club’s season-opener against the Brisbane Lions after injuring her quad at training on Friday night. Cramey (hamstring) also missed the Grand Final rematch.
Reigning AFLW MVP Phillips has been assessed by Club doctors, who have confirmed the injury is a minor strain.
The All Australian pair will be assessed again next week ahead of Adelaide’s Round Three match against the Western Bulldogs at Norwood Oval.
Co-captain Phillips will travel to Melbourne to support her teammates this weekend.
“It’s disappointing I won’t be out there to help the team on Saturday, but the medical advice is that I should rest this week,” Phillips said.
“I know the girls are really keen to respond after the loss to Brisbane, and it’s a great opportunity for our young players to get some more exposure at the highest level.
“I’ll help however I can off the field this week and will be doing everything I can to play in Round Three.”
The Crows reported no new injuries in their 12-point loss to the Lions on Saturday night.
Adelaide takes on Melbourne at 5:05pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
The match will be broadcast live into Adelaide on 7TWO and nationwide on Fox Footy. Fans can also stream all AFL Women's games on the new AFLW App.
