The review of the stadium deal at Adelaide Oval has entered a fifth month but Adelaide CEO Andrew Fagan says negotiations will take as long as necessary because any agreement would "affect generations to come".
The Crows and Port Adelaide called for a review of their arrangement with the AFL and SANFL in July after both clubs reported poor financial returns despite attracting record crowds.
Fagan, who became the Crows' chief in September, bemoaned that his Club had been unable to capitalise after achieving what he described as the highest average home attendance for any sporting club in Australia.
"Certainly the words 'Adelaide Oval review' have been spoken about far more often than I would have liked since arriving in this job a couple of months back," Fagan told radio station SEN on Wednesday.
"(Both clubs) aren't happy with (the financial returns). We certainly got an uplift, but given the attendances were way above those that were modelled, the uplift should have been far more significant. We've got to fix it.
"It's taken some time because it's such a significant negotiation (and) it's a challenging one … (and) it's going to affect generations to come. So the priority is to get it right. We don't want to rush to meet deadlines or the like.
"The negotiation is being held in good spirit but it's not concluded yet."
Fagan was also confident negotiations with star Crows Patrick Dangerfield and Rory Sloane – both of whom will be out of contract at the end of next season – would produce positive results and follow the example of Taylor Walker, who recently re-signed to the end of 2018.
"It was great to have 'Tex' re-sign on a long-term deal a couple of weeks ago and I'm hopeful that we'll have the other guys (stay) with our footy club," he said.
"I do know that they love the footy club, but we're a year out from them finishing up the 2015 season so we've got plenty of time to get it done."
