An inconsistent performance has affected the SANFL Crows again, as they went down to Glenelg by 57 points on Saturday afternoon.
After starting well in the first quarter and the scores being tied at quarter-time, the Tigers dominated from that point and ran out 20.6 (126) to 10.9 (69) winners at Gliderol Stadium.
Experienced duo Cameron Ellis-Yolmen and Sam Gibson stood up in the midfield, with a combined 79 disposals between them.
Ellis-Yolmen had 40 touches, 14 clearances, eight marks and six tackles while Gibson had 39 touches, eight marks and six inside 50s.
Patrick Wilson again had a lot of the ball with 33 disposals, nine marks and six clearances.
Forward Ben Davis had a good return to form, kicking three goals.
State League coach Ryan O’Keefe said there wasn’t an even contribution across the field and that made Glenelg’s momentum difficult to stop.
“You let one goal turn into two or three and we drop our bundle and that’s the challenge with a young group, trying to keep them up and about,” O’Keefe said.
“Cam (Ellis-Yolmen) was outstanding, he came back and his attitude, the way he went about it was fantastic, Sam (Gibson) as well.
“You can’t question them and what they do in terms of their attitude and professionalism.
“But you can’t rely on just two guys to do the work, it’s too hard. We need the other guys to look at them and say that’s the level, that’s what we need to do.”
There were three changes to the selected side, with Andy Otten called up to the AFL team and Lachlan Murphy and Jake Kelly held over as the emergencies for Adelaide’s game against North Melbourne on Sunday.
Damon Hill injured his hamstring during the game and will be unavailable for the final match of the year next week.
