Rory Sloane has praised the efforts of Sam Jacobs against West Coast and says the selection committee has a difficult decision to make ahead of Round 22.

Jacobs could play his 200th AFL game on Saturday but will face stern competition for selection from 23-year-old Reilly O’Brien.

The veteran ruckman returned to the senior side against the Eagles on Sunday following an extended spell in the SANFL.

“His ruck craft is outstanding, that’s what he came in the team for,” Sloane told Triple M’s The Rush Hour.

“It’s tough to pick who to play, we’ve got two quality ruckman (who) are both in good form.

“It’s like having two favourite restaurants… which one do you go to?”

Sloane is expected to play against the Magpies on Saturday despite suffering a knock to his eye in Round 21 - courtesy of some friendly-fire from teammate Matt Crouch.

A specialist confirmed earlier this week that Sloane had not suffered any structural damage to his eye.

“We really wanted to be cautious,” Sloane said.

“I have to trust the docs on that one… because I’ve had a couple of eye injuries before, that was a concern as well.

“There’s no risk (in playing this week), I’ve taken it easy at the start of this week and will do some training tomorrow.”

The Crows co-captain said his side had plenty of positive takeaways from the West Coast game, despite the loss.

“That’s the type of footy we want to play,” Sloane said. 

“Plenty of positive to take out of it, but we didn’t get the win, which is the most important thing this time of year.

“We’re desperate for a win.

“Collingwood are an outstanding side (so) it will be tough gig for our last home game of the season.”
