Adelaide chief executive Andrew Fagan says the Club is not ruling anyone out when it comes to selecting its next Senior Coach.
Speaking to Jars & Louie on Triple M, Fagan said the coach recruitment panel tasked to identify Don Pyke’s successor was currently working through a long list of candidates.
“We’ve been clearly defining the type of person we’re after and then looking to place names against those competencies,” Fagan said.
“We’re not ruling anyone in or out - you don’t want to do, particularly senior guys with lots of experience.
“We’re in the early stages but I don’t think it will take too long either.
“I expect in the next couple of weeks we’ll have found our person.”
Currently in the process of undergoing an external review of its football operations, Fagan said the Club was in the final stages of interviews.
“We’re not quite [finished], but we’re pretty close… a week or two [away],” he said.
“It’s a case of getting through all the interviews the guys needed to have - the last of those are taking place at the moment.
“I would think we’re not too far away from Jason [Dunstall] and the rest of the panel to write that up and present it back to the footy club.”
On Wednesday, Adelaide came to a mutual agreement with Josh Jenkins and his manager that the forward would explore a move to another club during the upcoming trade period.
Fagan said the decision was mutually beneficial for Jenkins and the Club.
“We sat down - the Club and Josh and his management team - [to talk] about what the future looked like,” Fagan said.
“It’s an opportunity for him to reinvigorate his career somewhere else and we’re looking to reinvigorate our list after five years of trying to chase success with a relatively core group.
“We’ve got some young kids who need to play some footy.
“[Josh’s] played some quality footy over a long period of time so I’d be confident there’ll be a club or two who will be interested in trying to lock him in.
“We’ll work on that further with him and Paul Conners and others during the trade period.”
