Crows midfielder Cam Ellis-Yolmen will not play again this season as he continues to rehabilitate a shin injury.
“Cam’s progressing steadily, but it’s been stop-start, with a combination of bone and tendon issues limiting his progression at times” Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass said.
“At this point in time, we feel Cam hasn’t improved to the level we need for him to return so he’ll miss the remainder of the season as we continue to increase training loads slowly.”
Three Crows will face tests ahead of Adelaide’s must-win encounter with the Bulldogs this Sunday afternoon.
Riley Knight, who was ruled out during the warm-up on Saturday with a hip injury, and Jake Kelly, who injured his shin in a collision against the Magpies, will both make their cases at Thursday’s main session.
Hass said both players would be on modified training loads this week.
“Riley experienced pain in his right hip during the warm-up, which meant he couldn’t accelerate and hit max speed so we made the decision to rule him out,” Hass said.
“He’s been assessed by the medical team and has pulled up well early in the week.
“We’ll monitor his loads and test him at main training but we’re hopeful he’ll play on the weekend
Kelly sustained his injury in a clash with Collingwood’s Travis Varcoe in the third quarter of Saturday’s game.
“As the swelling increased his function got worse and the decision was made to take him out of the game.
“Similar to Riley, he’ll need to have his loads modified and he’ll be tested at main training.”
Young Crow Will Hamill will also be tested at main training after experiencing tightness in his calf during the Crows SANFL match on Sunday.
“Will’s had a scan, which revealed a low-grade calf strain,” Hass said.
“We’re hopeful that Will’s symptoms will turn around in seven days, but we’ll take a cautious approach given he’s a first-year player.”
