Adelaide will finish on top of the 2019 Toyota AFL Premiership ladder at the end of the home and away season if co-captain Taylor Walker’s predictions are correct.
Speaking to Roo and Ditts on Triple M on Tuesday morning, Walker revealed his top eight for 2019 and had the Crows at number one, followed closely by the Tigers in second.
“I’ve got Crowies on the top, (then) Tigers, Giants, Eagles,” he said.
“After playing GWS in the JLT a few weeks ago, I reckon they’re going to have a good year.”
CAPTAINS CUT: Sloane reveals his trump card over Walker
Rounding out his eight, Walker picked (in order) Collingwood, Melbourne, Essendon and Sydney.
“The Bombers will be the biggest improvers,” he said.
“It will be jammed pack from six to 14 I reckon.
“If you get off to a good start, you set your season up.”
As for his medal picks, the Adelaide forward named Josh Kennedy (West Coast) as the favourite for the Coleman Medal and Luke Shuey (West Coast) or his co-captain Rory Sloane for the Brownlow Medal.
Walker was asked which teams he expected to slide but decided he would “stay clear” of that debate.
The Crows’ AFLW side will take on Geelong this Sunday in a preliminary final at Adelaide Oval and Walker said he would be venturing down.
“There was talk of the girls playing afterwards and us being the curtain raiser for them,” he said.
“I’m excited for the team, one more win and they’re into the Grand Final.”
Walker was asked if he expected Chayce Jones to make his debut this Saturday and said he was a “big chance”.
“Throughout the year we will see a few young boys debut,” he said.
