Watching her side boot ten goals and connect as a unit was inspiring for Adelaide co-captain Erin Phillips but doing it at home on Sunday made it even sweeter.

Phillips said the Crows’ one-point loss in the season opener fueled her side’s determination to put on a show for their fans as they returned to Norwood Oval.

“One of the biggest disappointments of Round One… when your fans are out here to support you and you lose by one [point],” she said post-game.

“We really wanted to come out and impress today and show our appreciation for them coming out, especially in 35 degrees I mean, that’s love right there.”

The All Australian was responsible for three of the ten goals, but said the Crows were poised with a several ‘weapons’ up forward.

She had been particularly impressed with youngster Chloe Scheer in her first year of AFLW.

“She’s a great player and a dangerous forward for us, we saw some minutes of her in the midfield and she can roll up and play as a pinch hitter in there,” she said.

“Something for her to be in the future, probably like me, is a mid/forward - she’s got some amazing weapons.”

Phillips also spoke of the recent transformation of defender-turned-midfielder Anne Hatchard.

Since shifting to the middle at the beginning of 2019, the 20-year-old has starred for Adelaide in all three rounds, collecting coaches votes every week.

“She’s just made huge strides from year one to two to now, she’s taken her game to a couple of levels so it’s great to be able to have the option to put her in the middle and Doc [Matthew Clarke] is loving having that option,” she said.

“She’s a competitive beast in there and it was good to see her kick a goal too, she had absolutely nobody around her but she was looking for the hands and finally realised she was open and it was a great finish.
