Adelaide’s masterplan for a new facility in North Adelaide could draw inspiration from interstate AFL rivals.
Crows chief executive Andrew Fagan travelled to Perth last month to tour Fremantle and West Coast’s new headquarters.
“I think it’s important as we look to finalise our master plan that we look at some of the examples of work others have completed recently,” Fagan told The Crows Show, brought to you by Optus.
“The most recent trip was to Perth, where I looked at the Fremantle Football Club and West Coast.
“Fremantle has more of a community feel as part of a large aquatic and community centre.
“West Coast is attached to an existing local football club.”
Fagan revealed the trip west was about more than just comparing equipment.
“The purpose of the visit was looking at how these facilities operate but also at the flow of the building,” he said.
“How do we create the best connection between our medical staff and our players, or our coaching group and our players… and importantly, how the community can interact best with our players and the football club.

“We want to make this a place where our fans and the community can feel comfortable.
“(Fans can) come and have a coffee, watch the boys train and interact with the club in a positive matter.”
Finalising a masterplan is the next stage of development but is still “a few months away” from being completed.
Fagan remains confident the Club can build a facility that satisfies all parties - the community, stakeholders and the Adelaide Football Club.
“There’s still a lot of work to do, but I remain super excited about the journey we’re on,” he said.
