Channel 7 has announced it will broadcast this year’s Magarey Medal and SA Football Hall of Fame event live for the first time on commercial television in eight years.
The SANFL’s night of nights will be an even grander occasion this season, with the League’s traditional best and fairest count to be held alongside the induction of five of SA football’s greatest contributors into the state’s Hall of Fame.
The event will be held in Adelaide Oval’s Magarey Room on Monday, September 7.
SANFL chief executive Jake Parkinson said the night shapes as a historic event.
“It will mark the first time the nation’s oldest individual football prize is awarded, on the same night five of South Australia’s greats are inducted into the SA Football Hall of Fame,” Parkinson told SANFL.com.au.
“Seeing the greatest footballers from this state, from generations past and present, in the same room will make for a memorable occasion all South Australians can cherish.”
The one-hour telecast will be broadcast live on 7mate.
Mitch Grigg and Matt Crouch were Adelaide’s leading vote-getters in last year’s count, which was streamed live online.
