A group of Year 12 students who have been supported by the Adelaide Football Club’s ‘McLeod Centre of Excellence’ during the past three years were proud to officially graduate this week.
The McLeod Centre of Excellence team, together with Crows Chief Operating Officer Nigel Smart, attended the Wiltja Graduation Ceremony to present certificates to the seven graduates.
The students have completed both a Certificate II & Certificate III in Business with the support of the Club. Both qualifications are nationally recognised and together have contributed a large component towards the students’ overall SACE requirements.
The McLeod Centre of Excellence, led by Andrew McLeod and wife Rachael, delivers educational programs and support to students throughout each stage of their secondary education.
The programs include the McLeod Challenge; Indigenous Youth Leadership Program; Future Leaders Program and the Ready Set Crow Program.
This year the McLeod Centre of Excellence officially partnered with Wiltja and the Department for Education and Child Development to commence the Ready Set Crow Program, supported by the Federal Government’s Remote School Attendance Strategy.
This has involved regular trips to the APY Lands and Far West Coast, as well as the targeted mentoring support of Eddie Hocking and Josh Wittwer who have been based at Wiltja Residential for three or four days each week.
“To see these students graduate is a fantastic outcome and we are extremely proud of the students’ progress and leadership development over the past three years,” McLeod said.
“The support of Eddie and Josh has been invaluable to Wiltja students this year and we are looking forward to building upon this partnership in 2017.”
