Adelaide forward Taylor Walker has used Matthew Nicks’ introduction at the Club to fire off a cheeky barb at Football Director Mark Ricciuto.
Speaking on Triple M’s Roo & Ditts on Thursday morning, Walker discussed his thoughts on the new coach, adding in a sly jab at the Crows legend.
“You, Rod Jameson and Nigel Smart are really happy by the sounds of it… you’re not the ones with the least amount of hair anymore,” Walker said with a laugh.
On Tuesday, Adelaide revealed Nicks as its new coach following the departure of Don Pyke in September.
Walker said he was impressed with Nicks’ appointment.
“I got to meet him quickly the other day,” he said.
“Got to watch the press conference and meet him quickly for 10 minutes… he’s really good.
“I’m looking forward to it, I’m excited.”
TRADE WRAP: Every Adelaide move of 2019
The AFL Trade Period concluded on Wednesday with a number of Crows finding new homes.
Walker said it was always “a little disappointing” to see players leave.
“As sad as it is, that’s the landscape we’re in,” he said.
“I’ve had a chat to them all and they’re all looking forward to their next adventure.
“Clearly the Club has decided we’re going to create opportunities for some young guys.
“We’ve got some guys chomping at the bit for an opportunity.”
