Adelaide has signed ruck-forward Billy Frampton and in return will give Port Adelaide the future fourth-round draft selection received from Greater Western Sydney.

The 22-year-old joins Adelaide after playing three AFL games with Port Adelaide over the past five seasons.

Frampton is originally from Western Australia but grew up as an Adelaide fan.

Crows General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid described Frampton as an “exciting young talent”.

“We have been watching Billy for awhile now and we believe he can have a real impact with us over the years to come,” Reid said.

“Billy is one of a number of young players we are bringing in to rejuvenate the list as the Club moves forward.

“Whether it’s up forward or helping out in the ruck, Billy will add some real competitiveness to the team.”

Frampton is the first player to be traded between the two South Australian clubs since Brad Symes crossed from Alberton to West Lakes at the end of 2007.
