Adelaide has selected two ruckmen for the must-win clash with Collingwood on Saturday afternoon at Adelaide Oval.
Veteran Sam Jacobs will play his 200th AFL game alongside recalled ruckman Reilly O’Brien, with the duo to share the task of curbing Magpies big man Brodie Grundy’s influence.
Crows Head of Football Brett Burton said the decision to select both ruckmen was to combat “one of the in-form ruckmen of the competition”.
“Taking on Grundy is a good challenge,” Burton said.
“We’ll bring in another ruckmen to provide support.
“We look forward to both Jacobs and O’Brien taking on that challenge.”
PRIORITY PICK: Concerns over draft order
Jacobs recorded a game-high 36 hitouts along with 11 disposals and six tackles against the Eagles in Round 21, with O’Brien travelling to Perth as an emergency.
Wingman Paul Seedsman will also celebrate a milestone on Saturday, returning to the senior side for his 100th AFL game.
The 27-year-old played 49 games for Collingwood before moving to Adelaide ahead of the 2016 season.
“Seedsman’s form in the SANFL last week was very good,” Burton said.
“We’re looking forward to him bringing that back into the AFL side.”
SANFL FIXTURE: Crows' run home
Rory Atkins and Andy Otten have been omitted from the side, while defender Alex Keath will line up in the SANFL against Woodville-West Torrens on Sunday afternoon.
“He’s missed a bit of footy, so we’ll give Keath a run in the SANFL on Sunday,” Burton said.
“We will reassess him after that.”
Otten, Hugh Greenwood, Chayce Jones and Elliott Himmelberg are the four emergencies.
First bounce on Saturday afternoon is at 4.05pm ACST, with the game to be broadcast live on Channel 7 Adelaide and Fox Footy from 4pm.
Saturday will be Members Recognition Round at Adelaide Oval, with confetti cannons firing inside the South Gate at 3.40pm.
Adelaide’s Round 22 side is…
