Adelaide has rewarded talented draftees Ned McHenry, Will Hamill and Lachlan Sholl with contract extensions following impressive starts to their AFL journeys.

The trio has agreed to two-year extensions and each of them has been an integral part of the State League side that sits second on the ladder. 

Adelaide General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said the work ethic of McHenry, Hamill and Sholl had been first class since they arrived at West Lakes.

“Ned, Will and Lachie are quality young men both on and off the field, and are eager to learn, take on board feedback and act upon it,” Reid said.

“They are making really good progress and we see them being long-term players for our Club, and they should continue to thrive in our team-first environment and with the peace of mind that their future is secure for the next few years.”

First-round draft pick McHenry has put together a string of impressive SANFL performances playing in the midfield.

“It’s going to take time to develop into the players we want to be but we are lucky with the Club here, it gives us the best opportunity to do that,” he said.

Hamill was selected with pick 30 in last year’s national draft.

“To stay here for another two years is fantastic. It’s a dream come true, I absolutely love the club,” Hamill said.

Sholl, who was recruited from the Calder Cannons, has been described as a balanced player and has impressed in defence.

“The Club has obviously shown quite a bit of faith in me and the other new boys in what we’re doing,” Sholl said.

“It has been awesome.”
