A host of current and former Crows greats were among the record number of participants in this year’s City to Bay fun run.
Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs ran the 12 kilometres from King William Street to Glenelg, however, he wasn’t running in the interest of getting fit ahead of pre-season training, but rather enjoying the chance to run with his girlfriend.
“Given I’m on holidays I opted to take it easy and run with my girlfriend Izzy, rather than smashing out any personal bests. I think I’ll leave that until I’m back for first day of the pre-season on November 18,” Jacobs said.
“It was great fun, nice weather and I pulled up pretty well.”
Midfielder Bernie Vince, full-back Daniel Talia and former Club Captain and Brownlow Medallist Mark Ricciuto also made the journey down Anzac Highway.
Jacobs explained that due to a computer glitch race organisers were not able to generate accurate times leaving runners to record themselves.
“Unfortunately there was a computer issue so we had to record our own times. Daniel Talia and his girlfriend did the run in around 57 minutes, I think Bernie (Vince) and his girlfriend took 60 minutes and Izzy and I did it in just over an hour.”
