Crows forward Karl Gallagher will be unavailable for selection for the next two weeks while recovering from a shoulder injury.

Gallagher hurt his shoulder at training and will be restricted to non-contact work for the next fortnight.

“He will probably miss two weeks of football,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“He’s running and performing skills and doing everything that he needs to do other than contact training.”

Wingman Chayce Jones made a successful return from a shoulder injury in match-sim training on Saturday.

“Chayce got through a match simulation scenario on Saturday morning for those who didn’t play in the AFL on the weekend,” Burgess said.

“He got through successfully so will be available for selection this weekend.”

Burgess said the decision to sub Izak Rankine from the win over Essendon in the third quarter on Saturday was about managing his loads.

“Izak’s work-rate throughout the game was pretty extraordinary and at a level that we’d seen a couple of times in the past where he’d had some issues, particularly at the MCG,” Burgess said.

“So in consultation with Izak, we thought it was the right thing to do to take him off.

"He played the earlier game with the Indigenous All-Stars and has not missed a session in pre-season, and fortunately we were in the rare position to be able to do that.”
