Forward Danielle Ponter will face a fitness test this week ahead of Adelaide’s Qualifying Final against North Melbourne on Friday night.
Ponter rolled her ankle in the fourth quarter of the Crows’ four-point win over the Cats last Friday and did not return to the field.
“In that last quarter Danielle rolled her ankle, the good part was she rolled it to the outside so it’s not as concerning as rolling it to the inside,” Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said.
“She didn’t take any further part in the game however on Saturday morning she was able to walk to recovery with a bit of a limp and the good news is on Monday she was able to do a little bit of jogging.
“We’ll test that out on Wednesday when we have our main training and see how she goes for Friday night’s game, but our medical staff are confident she should be ok.”
Midfielders Brooke Boileau and Deni Varnhagen will also be tested for this week.
Boileau spent the weekend on the sidelines after dislocating her finger at training last week.
“Brooke was playing a walking game of handball and she dived to touch somebody in the game and got her little finger caught in someone’s shoe and dislocated her little finger,” Harper said.
“It was a compound dislocation which means the bone came through the skin, the amazing part is there was no fracture, and it was put back in and stitched back up.
“She’s got a guard on it at the moment and she’s putting her hand up to say she’s right to play if selected, so it will be interesting to see how she trains on Wednesday.”
Fellow midfielder Deni Varnhagen injured her thumb in the scrimmage match on Saturday.
“Deni played in the scrimmage practice game on the weekend, she’s had a thumb injury for a while, and that thumb dislocated in the game,” Harper said.
“They were able to put it back in straight away and it’s fairly battered and bruised but the doctors are saying she might be alright this week it will just depend, for both Brooke and Deni, how they go at training on Wednesday.”
