Kuwarna has made one change for its blockbuster clash against top-of-the-table North Melbourne on Friday night.
The Club hosts the ladder-leaders at Norwood Oval and has named small forward Jess Waterhouse in the side.
Kuwarna Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said Waterhouse had performed strongly during the practice matches and deserved a recall.
“Jess’ form in the scrimmages has been outstanding and an opportunity has arisen,” Harper said.
“Jess is a goalkicker with great forward craft, so we are looking for those two things, as well as some forward pressure.
“It will be a huge game, North Melbourne is undefeated and quite rightly touted as the best in the competition, so we’ll have our work cut out.
“But if you want to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best, so we’ll have a crack.”
Keeley Kustermann is being managed and will miss the Week Nine match.
“Keeley hurt her ankle about a month ago and missed a game with it, but has been carrying it ever since,” Harper said.
“It was thought best that she had a week off to try and give it a rest to help get it better again.”
Lily Tarlinton, Abbie Ballard and Deni Varnhagen are the emergencies.
The match marks the first week of the AFLW’s Indigenous Round.
Kuwarna will don its Indigenous guernsey, which was designed by AFL forward Izak Rankine alongside his cousin, artist Harley Hall.
The Club has also changed its name to Kuwarna in a celebration of Indigenous culture and heritage.
Kuwarna (pronounced goo-wun-na) is the Kaurna translation for the word Crows and has been used in consultation with the Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi Language Corporation.
Kuwarna hosts North Melbourne at Norwood Oval on Friday at 7.15pm, with gates opening at 5.45pm.
